Let's start with a little "definition". What is hidden under the term healing springs? Well, with this in general all sources are summarized, to which a healing, soothing or preventive effect can be attributed. And "spring" in this context means a crack in the earth's crust where water escapes from a depth of several thousand meters. But of course, not all sources are the same, as you can read in the next section.
Probably the greatest distinction will take place with springs with regard to their temperature and the exact composition. However, all healing springs are basically rich in minerals, which are transported up from the earth's interior by the spring water. Therefore healing springs can also almost always be categorized as "mineral springs".
If the spring is not only rich in minerals but also pleasantly warm, it is commonly referred to as an "thermal spring".
Springs can also be distinguished in terms of hydrostatic pressure. For example, the spring water can emerge "moderate". This is the case at the same pressure between the atmosphere and the point of groundwater emergence, which is why corresponding springs are also called tending "descending".
If, on the other hand, the pressure at the point of groundwater discharge is greater than in the atmosphere, the source falls into the category of "ascending sources".
Other than that, differentiation can still take place with regard to the water content and the discharge.
There are springs that carry water throughout the year ("perennial springs") or partially fall dry ("intermittent springs" or "starvation wells").
If you want to benefit from the healing power of corresponding springs, so a use in the context of drinking therapy, thermal therapy or also in the course of a yoga trip offers.
In mineral water therapy, also known as crenotherapy, is used for the most part water from mineral springs. Here the healing water is led into wells and can then be taken either in public drinking halls or in the spa hotel itself. A mineral water therapy will usually take place over a period of 1 to 6 weeks and can be used for pretty much any conditions. Main indications are, however, diseases of the digestive tract and the mobility.

Another form of treatment in which healing water plays a central role is the thermal therapy. As the name suggests, it is primarily the warm water from thermal springs that contributes to healing here. In the context of baths, inhalations or even healing mud treatments, it has an invigorating effect on the body and can help in the treatment of a wide variety of conditions, primarily indications of the musculoskeletal system, the digestive system and the skin.

Furthermore, healing springs also play an important role in yoga. Many yogis see healing springs as transmitters of the life energy prana. This prana is transmitted through bathing or drinking. Apart from the healing by special mineral materials, many healing springs are attributed thus also still another esoteric strength, which is connected not rarely with reports of "miracle healings". Likewise, of course, bathing in a warm thermal spring is felt to be particularly relaxing, especially after a strenuous yoga session.
Mineral or thermal springs are found in many places in Europe. The probably largest occurrences are however in Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Italy and Germany to book. But also in Asia, such as in the north of Bali, where the sulfurous healing springs of Banjar have a greater fame.
