The Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa is located on the "quiet side" in the south of Koh Samui at Laem Set Beach, approximately 30 minutes from Chaweng. Built around a natural rock cave that served as a meditation site for Buddhist monks for centuries, the resort exudes a special tranquility and spirituality. This unique atmosphere invites you to escape everyday life, recharge your energy, and rediscover yourself. In ancient Sanskrit, Kamalaya means "Lotus (Kamal) Realm (alaya)" and symbolizes the unfolding of the human spirit.
At Kamalaya, ancient Eastern healing traditions merge with modern Western science to create an innovative wellness approach. Tailored programmes support the body, mind, and soul on the journey to holistic health. A team of experienced naturopaths, Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors, yoga instructors, fitness trainers, massage therapists, meditation and life coaches, and other health experts ensures that each guest can achieve their personal wellness goals – for a life in balance and well-being.
Location & Surroundings
Koh Samui, Thailand's second largest island, is located in the Gulf of Thailand and captivates with its tropical nature and diverse activities. Dense palm groves, gentle hills, and waterfalls shape the landscape. Diving, snorkelling, and hiking are particularly popular. The rainy season lasts from mid-October to mid-December. The area around Kamalaya is characterised by gentle hills, tropical greenery, and a bay with a fine sandy beach – a perfect backdrop for relaxation and enjoyment of nature.
Dining & Leisure
At Kamalaya, the cuisine transforms into a true delight that nourishes both body and mind. The menus blend Eastern and Western culinary traditions, offering a wide selection of fresh, healthy dishes with sophisticated touches. Whether vegetarian, vegan, seafood, poultry, or even alkaline detox meals, there is a perfect dish for everyone. Guests participating in detox or ideal weight programs enjoy specially tailored menus. All dishes are prepared with fresh organic ingredients, complemented by refreshing juices, signature tonics, and a variety of coffee and tea specialties. Indulge in a lavish breakfast buffet, à la carte lunch and dinner, as well as light snacks at the Amrita Café and the Alchemy Tea Lounge – a true feast for the senses and your health. Communication tables are available for personal exchanges. Lactose-free and gluten-free dishes are also available.
Wellness & Spa
At the Wellness Sanctuary (ages 16 and up), guests can explore a wide array of holistic health programmes that blend Eastern and Western medical traditions. With over 70 different therapies and treatments, the programmes focus on areas such as healthy living, detox, stress management and burnout prevention, optimal fitness, healthy sleep, and rejuvenation. The combination of healthy eating, tailored fitness, and treatments from Traditional Chinese Medicine, naturopathy, and Ayurveda enhances well-being and improves quality of life.
Available services include health consultations, diagnostics (e.g., bio-impedance analysis, laboratory tests, medical tests), and personalised discussions on lifestyle and dietary habits. Additionally, acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and herbal medicine are also part of the programme, along with massages, Reiki, and craniosacral therapy. Herbal steam baths, infrared saunas, and plunge pools contribute to relaxation. Newly introduced at the Longevity House are innovative therapies such as ozone and oxygen treatments, IV therapies, cancer screening, and other specialised treatments. A team of experienced guest therapists and international healers is available all year round.
Fitness & Courses
The diverse course programme includes yoga for beginners and advanced practitioners, featuring Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, and therapeutic yoga, Pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, Reformer Pilates, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and much more. Approximately 3-4 group classes are offered daily (depending on availability).
The Hilltop Yoga Pavilion offers a stunning setting with panoramic views of the sea, surrounding islands, and picturesque sunsets. The open Prana Sala, nestled in tropical gardens, creates a serene atmosphere for holistic sessions in small groups. The Yantra Hall, surrounded by majestic granite rocks and lotus ponds, invites with sea views and modern facilities for yoga and retreats. The state-of-the-art Shakti Fitness Centre, located at the highest point of the facility, provides fitness with a breathtaking view, complemented by the Padma Studio for Pilates and more. Personal trainers and private yoga sessions are available for a fee.
Pool Area
Two outdoor pools and a serene natural beach provide additional relaxation and activity. The 25-metre lap pool near the Shakti Fitness Centre impresses with its panoramic views, fresh water, and fruit snacks. The Leisure Pool by the Amrita Café is harmoniously nestled into lotus ponds and impresses with artistic details such as Buddhist motifs and elephant sculptures. On the 250-metre-long beach, sun loungers, a hammock, and a swing invite you to linger. Guests can explore the lagoon with complimentary paddleboards and kayaks, though bathing shoes are recommended due to coral and shells. Tides vary seasonally, with particularly high water levels during the day in the winter months.
