Recharge your energy and embrace days of regeneration and relaxation. The Waldbreitenbach Monastery with the Rosa Flesch Conference Centre offers the perfect setting for your fasting therapy. Your break is complemented by soothing yoga sessions and engaging lectures.
Would you like to take a few days off, get moving, relax, regenerate, reduce stress, and meet friendly people? Then this Detox Retreat is just right for you! At this retreat, you'll relax not only physically but also mentally and emotionally. Yoga and various forms of fasting or vegan-based diets are ideal combinations to find specific solutions for everyday demands, detoxify, and rejuvenate the body. Hiking and other physical activities complete the programme.
A week of fasting or just eating a basic diet while staying active - is that possible? Is it not quite crazy? Not at all - on the contrary! It's quite crazy to spend the whole week in the office and/or in front of the TV, not moving and still eating! At least, that's how our ancestors would have seen it. Our bodies are much better adapted to movement and little food in the long term than the other way around. Yoga deals with the whole person and consists of body and breathing exercises as well as meditation. During this retreat, you will practice Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Sukshma Vyayama. The Heart Chakra Meditation is a combination of movement to meditative music followed by a rest period.
On the edge of the Westerwald, just an hour's drive from the bustling centres of Rhine-Main (Frankfurt) and Rhine-Ruhr (Cologne), the Rosa-Flesch Conference Centre offers an extraordinary setting for the fasting seminar. Perched above the Wied Valley, against a monastic backdrop, this hotel breathes a Franciscan spirit. Here, you can recharge the energy needed to meet everyday demands. The village of Waldbreitbach, with its idyllic location in the Wied Valley, is known as a popular excursion destination and for its nativity exhibition and Christmas lighting during the festive season.
In the program, you can freely choose your detox method. The methods are tailored to your well-being, allowing you to omit something or add extra snacks at any time.
The method according to Dr. Buchinger is a modified fasting where solid food is avoided. The body completely switches to fasting metabolism and sustains itself almost exclusively from stored reserves (fat and protein). There are juices and broths (each ¼ litre) as well as water and tea to drink. All body cells enter a protective mechanism, deposits are broken down, and degenerative cells regress.
The Interval Vegan Alkaline Fasting refers to a dietary nutrition where proteins are almost completely avoided. Only foods that are predominantly alkaline in metabolism are consumed. In this vegan alkaline therapy, the body does not completely switch to fasting metabolism. Instead, the body undergoes a deacidification treatment, which positively affects well-being and health. This retreat follows the intermittent fasting concept, with a minimum 16-hour food break. You start in the morning with tea (and some fruit if needed) and from 11 a.m., there is self-prepared alkaline porridge and fruit and/or vegetables and salads. Dinner at 6 p.m. includes soup, vegetables, potatoes, dips, and/or alkaline bread.
Pseudo fasting means that the body receives a scientifically precisely adjusted food composition that supplies the highest possible amount of micro and macronutrients without the body recognizing that it is being fed, as the corresponding metabolic pathways remain deactivated. Therefore, it remains in fasting metabolism despite daily solid meals. The daily caloric intake is between 800 and 1150 kcal. Additionally, intermittent fasting and spermidine-rich foods are integrated into the diet to further boost autophagy (cell cleaning).
For soothing massages at the monastery, masseuse Cornelia provides personalised treatments tailored to your desires and needs (payable on site). At the foot of the monastery hill, in the district of Hausen, there is a sauna area with a swimming pool, the Wiedtalbad (approximately a 5-minute drive).
Yoga takes place in a charming, historic church that no longer houses prayers but exclusively opens its doors for special events. The charm of the old walls and the sublime silence of the space create an extraordinary atmosphere that elevates the yoga experience to a new, inspiring level.

The educational house of Waldbreitenbach Monastery was remodelled in 2012 and reopened under a new name in a former living area of the sisters. You will stay right in the former rooms of the sisters, in traditional masonry. Naturally, the 23 rooms meet the latest standards but are designed to continue the monastic tradition in their intentional simplicity. Each room is equipped with a shower/WC, underfloor heating, wardrobe, satellite TV, safe, desk, hairdryer, and Wi-Fi. The rooms on the front side offer a wide view over the Wied valley and on the back side over the quiet garden of the sisters. All rooms are allergy-friendly.

Very nice days and good care. A concept with hands and feet with the freedom to participate in all offers, but also to be able to withdraw if you want to

It was an inspiring and unforgettable weekend! I also found it physically challenging, but I am grateful for the experience. Unfortunately, however, there was also a downer: the hotel disappointed me in two respects.

The concept of combining fasting, yoga and hiking in a very pleasant group is pure relaxation for body and soul. The competent, caring and committed leadership gave valuable impulses without being dogmatic. The yoga teacher was highly professional and is second to none. The motto "Everything can, nothing must" is a relief. The accommodation in the monastery is comfortable and the scenic surroundings are very charming. I was completely satisfied.
