The Ayurvedic therapy at Villa Velmarie can help you achieve greater relaxation, reduced stress, weight loss, improved sleep, and better digestion. The recommended duration of stay varies depending on the condition, with a minimum of 14 nights. The focus of the therapy is tailored individually by the experienced Ayurvedic doctor to suit your dosha type and your goals. The success of the therapy depends on your response to the treatments and herbal medicine.

Key focuses of the therapy include Rejuvenation, Anti-Stress & Exhaustion or Detox from 7 nights, Weight Management or Panchakarma from 14 nights, and Panchakarma Healing Treatment from 21 nights. Panchakarma is ideal for: Arthritis, Psoriasis, Acne, Gastritis, Constipation, Obesity, Insomnia, Sinusitis, Spondylosis, Parkinson's, Anaemia, Back Pain, Paralysis, Angina Pectoris, Ulcers (14-28 nights)

• Ayurvedic full board
• All-day herbal tea
• Initial consultation with an Ayurveda doctor and creation of an individual treatment plan
• Daily Ayurvedic treatments (approx. 120 mins), e.g., Shirodhara oil forehead flow, herbal steam bath, foot massage
• Daily yoga and meditation (approx. 60 mins)
• Ayurvedic medicine as part of the therapy
• Use of outdoor pool and Wi-Fi

Travel companions without treatments are welcome and can be booked via SpaDreams. 

Over 10 days, you will gain both theoretical and practical insights into the soothing world of Ayurveda on a daily basis.

• Stay in an apartment (approx. 5 minutes walk from Villa Velmarie)

Day 1

• Introduction "What is Ayurveda", the history of Ayurveda, explanation of the elements (120')
• Head massage technique, demonstration by a therapist (120')

Day 2

• Explanation of the Doshas Vata, Pita, and Kapha (120')

• Technique of neck, shoulder, and arm massage, demonstration by a therapist (120')

Day 3

• Prakruthi (initial consultation)
• Beginning life according to Ayurveda standards
• Determination of body constitution (Doshas)
• Technique of back and chest massage, demonstration by a therapist (120')

Day 4

• Purva Karma (preparation) and Panchakarma (detox and cleansing treatment), the five steps of Panchakarma (120')
• Technique of leg and foot massage, demonstration by a therapist (120')

Day 5

• Abhyanga massage (Ayurvedic oil massage), steam bath, and fermentation of food (120')
• Practical exercise Abhyanga, steam bath, and fermentation (120')

Day 6

• Shirodhara, Shirovasti, oil knowledge (120')
• Instructions on Shirodhara forehead pour and Shirovasti head treatment (120')

Day 7

• Visit to an Ayurveda pharmacy and the Ayurveda Museum (120')
• Consultation with an Ayurveda doctor at the Medical Center (approx. 15 mins away)

Day 8

• Introduction to Sri Lankan spices
• Benefits of spices according to body constitution
• Cooking class (60')

Day 9

• Nutrition according to body constitution (foods and diet according to Doshas)
• How to make a floral bath, demonstration by a therapist

Day 10

• Theoretical exam
• Visit to Kalutara Bodhiya
• Visit to a vegetable store and explanation of the properties/effectiveness of various vegetables
