The Tamarind Tree Garden Resort is an idyllic garden resort in Katunayake, providing travellers with a haven of tranquillity for nearly two decades. It captivates with its casual elegance and lush tropical nature. The elegantly appointed rooms and warm hospitality contribute to the resort's unique atmosphere.
Katunayake, located about 18 miles north of Colombo in Sri Lanka, is renowned for the Bandaranaike International Airport, the country's largest airport. The city serves as a significant industrial hub with numerous free trade zones and provides modern accommodations for travellers. Its strategic coastal proximity and excellent transport links make Katunayake both economically significant and convenient for visitors.
At the Tamarind Tree Garden Resort, you can savour your meals in the Ayurvedic restaurant or the serene outdoor garden, offering a thoroughly delightful culinary experience. Meals are tailored individually according to the imbalance of doshas of each guest, optimally supporting the healing and regeneration process. A special highlight is the unique sequence of meals: dessert is served first, followed by the starter and finally the main course. This practice is based on Ayurvedic principles, which suggest that consuming sweet foods at the beginning of the meal eases digestion and stimulates the appetite.
With nine treatment rooms and a team of twelve therapists, the resort is dedicated to meeting the individual needs and requirements of each guest. Two experienced Ayurveda doctors are available to provide tailored treatment planning and consultation. Private yoga sessions can be booked on-site for a fee of 50€ (approx. UK £44 / USD $54) per hour. Additionally, acupuncture can be added as prescribed by the doctor for an additional charge of 30€ per treatment (approx. UK £26 / USD $32).
The resort's leisure offerings include Ayurveda lectures, temple visits, and yoga. The 12-hectare garden is ideal for relaxation, while the surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for active leisure. For a fee, you can rent a bicycle or take a boat tour through the Muthurajawela Wetland. Additionally, you have the option to relax at Negombo Beach.
