An exclusive Ayurveda resort with experienced, top Ayurveda doctors and therapists for authentic Ayurveda therapies for prevention and rehabilitation. Managed by Austrian leadership for over 25 years, Lotus Villa warmly welcomes guests from Europe. Expect a highly experienced and well-coordinated team throughout the Lotus Villa.
Lotus Villa is located in the southwest of Sri Lanka on the long sandy beach of Ahungalla in an idyllic garden with a waterfall and meditation fountain. Opened in 1982, initially used as a guest house and later distinguished as an Ayurveda Hospital in 1998, this facility, specializing in traditional Ayurveda, is still managed by the Austrian founding family, the Hubers. The founder, Peter Huber, experienced firsthand the healing powers of Ayurveda, which led to the success story of the resort. The villa welcomes guests with a very familial atmosphere and personal service, impressing with Western standards and high environmental awareness. Its own water treatment facility ensures that tap water is purified to international standards for drinking, and wastewater is treated for use in irrigating the vegetable/herb garden. Organic products from the garden are used in the kitchen and the Ayurveda pharmacy. Plastic is replaced by glass.
Experience the charm of an open, lovingly designed Ayurveda restaurant with sea view, where specially tailored Ayurvedic dishes are freshly and individually served according to your body type (Dosha). Sometimes, nuances in preparation (such as with or without salt) determine whether the food is merely nourishment or also medicine for you. Individual meal plans for each guest are communicated by the head Ayurveda doctor to the chefs, ensuring meticulous implementation. Delicious fruits, coconuts, and vegetables from our own organic cultivation often complete your menu. At Lotus Villa, you are invited to forget time and truly embrace the moment without a watch. You will be summoned to meals by bell (and personally for treatments) - a delightful spectacle.
The traditional Ayurveda prevention and intensive rehabilitation programs at Lotus Villa are especially designed for those guests who seek a holistic engagement with themselves and their personal condition, appreciating medically high-quality Ayurveda in a familial setting. Suitable for pre and post-care for various conditions (e.g., women's ailments, post-Covid). At the Ayurveda Center or the on-site clinic, you will experience the professionalism and passion of a well-coordinated team of experienced Ayurveda doctors, therapists, and nurses. Assistant doctors and therapists are available around the clock.
At Lotus Villa, treatments are not provided on request, but are individually tailored to you and the best possible treatment success according to the doctors' prescriptions. There are several massage rooms, herbal and steam baths in traditional local style, an Ayurvedic herbal sauna, and a stone oil tub for skin treatments available for the treatments. The prescribed treatments and the reasons for their selection will be carefully explained to you.
In the licensed production area, the Ayurveda pharmacy with oil kitchen, oils for treatments and Ayurvedic medicine are produced in-house. In the Ayurveda garden, plants grow for Ayurvedic medicine, which is not a necessary part of the treatment (depending on the indication). The products are exclusively intended for hotel guests and are not for national or international sale; however, purchases can be made for post-treatment at home if needed.
Additional consultations with specialists in cancer, stroke, dermatology, ENT, and dentistry, as well as with Western-trained doctors are available, with blood and urine tests among others for a fee (payable on-site).
Pavilion by the sea for treatment-accompanying yoga, meditation, and Qi Gong (meditation in motion).
The expansive garden, shaded by coconut palms, offers tropical vastness, fresh sea air, and a dreamy view of the sea and the extensive Ahungalla sandy beach (with round-the-clock security service). Additionally, the pool with sun loungers and the library with books in English invite you to relax in the garden. The leisure offerings at Lotus Villa are diverse, ranging from traditional music by the Lotus Villa Band to magic or dance performances, as well as Sinhalese language or Ayurvedic cooking classes. Excursions are available starting from the second week, as the first week is meant for restful tranquility on the peaceful grounds.
Lotus Villa offers a total of 19 small, yet exquisite rooms with ceiling fans, mosquito nets, alarm bells, and Wi-Fi. The rooms do not have air conditioning, as it is important that the body is in the ideal condition for cleansing - cold air could cool the body and close the pores. Deliberately, there is also no TV, newspapers, or telephones to reduce stress and enhance the recovery value. 16 of the rooms face the sea side, 3 face the garden side (both single and double rooms). Wheelchair-accessible rooms and combination rooms with connecting doors are available on request via SpaDreams.

The massages and the cuisine were excellent. The location of the Lotus Villa directly on the wild ocean beach is unique.

General ambience mediocre, relaxation through "not having to work" and beach / sea feeling - not a vacation, but a therapeutic stay regulated by the large number of treatments
