Join us on a tour of the Karlsbad Spa Centre, where we will showcase the finest architecture. At the end of the 19th century, the Karlsbad Theatre was constructed based on designs by Viennese architects Helmer and Felner. The paintings were entrusted to Viennese painters Gustav and Emil Klimt, along with Franz Matsch, who left behind one of the greatest artistic treasures, a hand-painted curtain. Today, the Municipal Theatre in Karlsbad offers a wide variety of plays, operettas, and ballets. The theatre's grand hall serves as the concert hall for the local symphony orchestra. The alternative scene at the Municipal Theatre - "Theater Husovka" - presents chamber and traditional plays as well as club music. The Karlsbad Symphony Orchestra, with its long-standing tradition, organizes regular concerts and summer colonnade concerts.
Karlsbad is home to five art galleries. The Karlsbad Museum and the Museum of the Golden Key regularly host lectures on the history of Karlsbad, and their exhibitions are open to visitors all year round.
Karlsbad traditionally hosts the International Film Festival. Each year, film stars from around the world gather here (Franco Nero, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sharon Stone, Michael York, Jacqueline Bisset, Robert de Niro, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas).
In addition to culture, Karlsbad also offers sporting activities. The city is particularly proud of its two golf and tennis courses. There are also opportunities for bowling, billiards, ricochet, squash, and mini-golf. Horse lovers will also find plenty to enjoy.
Karlsbad is also famous for its unique traditional products, including a glassmaking tradition founded by Ludwig Moser. For over 150 years, the Moser Glassworks has been producing luxurious drinking and decorative glass in both classic and modern designs. Karlsbad is not only a city of glass but also a city of porcelain. The first porcelain factory in the Karlsbad district was established in 1792 in Horní Slavkov. For spa treatments, Karlsbad utilizes twelve hot mineral springs. The "thirteenth spring" was created in 1807 by pharmacist Joseph Becher, who initially sold it as digestive drops, later as a digestive liqueur. Becherovka – Becher's Bitter is produced according to a secret recipe from a blend of about 20 types of herbs and spices, sourced from exotic parts of the world and also from the surroundings of Karlsbad.
