The Hotel Freund is situated in a serene and picturesque setting, surrounded by nature. Besides offering pure relaxation, the hotel provides a variety of options for an active holiday.

The spa town of Oberorke is picturesquely nestled in the green hills and forests of the Waldecker Land, situated between the southern Sauerland and Kellerwald. This idyllic village by the small Orke river is located close to Lake Edersee and the Kellerwald National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The surrounding area offers numerous excursion destinations.

The hotel restaurant offers a culinary blend of international specialties and regional cuisine. Indulge in a rich vitality breakfast buffet, with sparkling wine breakfast on Sundays, and if opting for half board, an evening buffet (occasionally a 4-course menu). At lunch, a selection of à la carte dishes is available (for an additional charge). Moreover, the hotel boasts a cocktail bar, a terrace, and a reading lounge.

The Orkeland SPA (approx. 3,000 sqm, 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.) invites you to pure relaxation. The indoor pool (approx. 12 x 5.5 m, about 84°F) with panoramic windows and a view of the 'land of a thousand mountains', an outdoor pool (heatable, approx. 10.5 x 5 m, about 71-75°F) in the Mediterranean pool garden, and the sauna area with Acacia sauna (approx. 158-194°F), climate sauna, bio-sauna (approx. 77-131°F), steam bath (approx. 113°F), Laconium (approx. 131-149°F), salt crystal sauna, Latvian reclining beam sauna (approx. 185-194°F), natural stone cold plunge pool, and relaxation areas offer the perfect atmosphere for a wellness break. In the outdoor area, you will find a wellness garden with a plunge pool, FREUND's beach garden (seasonal) with relaxation loungers, a sun terrace with panoramic views, and a sycamore park with relaxation islands.

In addition, the hotel offers a diverse range of massages, such as sports, reflexology, or couples massages, as well as baths, scrubs, pedicures, and manicures. Also available are Ayurveda and medical wellness treatments, as well as fruit acid, SilverFoil, Hydra Boost treatments, face lifting, and ultrasound (Sonic). The hotel's own Freund stable not only has stables but also lush green pastures and its own riding arena (20×40 meters). It is available daily from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during your riding holiday. Please bring your own riding equipment, as it is not available for hire!

Taking your own horse on holiday? Your horse will be accommodated in spacious guest horse boxes:

• Box with straw bedding, oats, hay, and reform pellets
• from 1 May to 1 December, a small meadow is additionally available next to the box
• feeding according to preference 2 or 3 times daily
• bedding is refreshed every morning, mucking out as needed by yourself
• an outdoor paddock without a roof is available all year round and daily from 1:00 p.m.

18 m² approx. €56 (approx. UK £48 / USD $59) per horse/day, 9 m² approx. €46 (approx. UK £40 / USD $49) per horse/day - (both to be reserved and paid for on site). Health comes first on a holiday with horses - Please bring a valid equine passport with basic immunization against influenza and the corresponding current boosters for your riding holiday.

Hotel Freund is a certified hiking partner. E-bike and mountain bike rentals are available on-site for a fee. Hiking and biking routes, as well as Nordic walking trails, start right at the hotel. The surrounding area boasts numerous attractions such as Waldeck Castle, Frankenberg (Eder), Korbach, Marburg, Fritzlar, and the city of art and culture, Kassel.
