The newly built resort of the Hiru Group, not far from Hiru Villa, is a masterpiece of attention to detail, phenomenal artistic design, and is beautifully situated in a private sea bay. Thus, there are now four Hiru Resorts in the SpaDreams portfolio, with a proven concept and a large loyal clientele.
The newly built Hiru Om Ayurveda Resort opened its doors in October 2022, inviting you - following the proven Hiru concept - on an Ayurvedic journey to self-discovery. The fourth hotel of the Hiru Group, located a short walk (about 10 minutes) from the 'parent house' Hiru Villa in Maggona, impresses not only with its beautifully landscaped botanical garden (about 2.5 acres) with ancient trees and its direct location on a spacious bay with a beautiful private beach but also with the spirituality, attention to detail, and artistic freedom of the architects felt everywhere. From the unique decorations in the garden, tasteful details on walls and ceilings, to a cheeky ship that welcomes you next to the beautiful pool. The extensive garden includes dignified trees, exotic flowers and bushes, ponds, and quiet spots, as well as a Bodhi tree, a descendant of the approximately 2,000-year-old original from Anuradhapura, under which Buddha is said to have found enlightenment according to legend. The tree was brought from India to Sri Lanka and today enjoys the status of a national sanctuary.
The charming town of Maggona is located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, about 3 miles north of Beruwela.
In the round-built, open restaurant on the ground floor, which attracts attention with its artistic wall paintings, you can expect individually tailored Sinhalese and Ayurvedic dishes as a menu (optionally vegetarian, partly white fish). The ingredients are partly sourced from the hotel's own vegetable garden. This also invites you to harvest some vegetables yourself and have them prepared by the kitchen.
In the 7 treatment rooms of Hiru Om Ayurveda Center you will experience the daily Ayurveda treatments. Qualified Ayurvedic doctors and therapists practice very experienced and with great care in accordance with the Hiru philosophy. Some treatments, e.g. Ayurvedic foot or facial massages or even the final flower bath, are gladly performed in the garden, weather permitting. So you can - while gently doing your body good - let your gaze wander and discover certainly every day in the garden still a wonderful work of art here and there.
Yoga and meditation are excellent ways to bring body, mind and soul into harmony and to effectively support the Ayurvedic treatments. You can experience your asanas and breathing exercises either in the open yoga pavilion in the garden overlooking the sea or, weather permitting, on the 1st floor in the lovingly named "round room for spiritual activities". Beach lovers also have the opportunity to practice yoga on the beautiful beach on the purpose built yoga platform. You can also take individual yoga classes, the yoga instructor is on site all day.
In addition to the intensive spa treatments, there is enough space and time for relaxing reading or walking in the garden or on the beautiful beach. Tranquility and idyll are very important here. You are also welcome to use the saltwater pool for relaxation for the senses. You can also pursue various leisure activities outside the resort, talk to the Hiru team happy to do so. Ideas would include excursions to the authentic fishing village of Maggona or by tuk tuk to the nearby towns of Kalutara or Beruwala, as well as boat and island trips.
Hiru and the Om Symbol
Once the resort was supposed to be designed in the shape of an Om symbol. Structurally, this was not realized, but the power of Om can be found, among other things, in the garden in a beautiful rock formation. The meaning of Om is celebrated worldwide - especially in yoga - so yoga classes often end with the Om mantra. The symbol Om ("Aum") consists of three letters and denotes the 3 states of consciousness awake (A), dreaming (U) and deep sleep (M).
Hiru Om has a total of 12 double rooms (about 409 sq ft) on 2 floors, each with a balcony or terrace overlooking the stunning garden and the sea (partially side view). The individual, stylish, and very creative 'Hiru design' is naturally reflected in the rooms as well. In addition to shower/WC, hairdryer, telephone, safe, fan, air conditioning (for a fee), mosquito net, and Wi-Fi, Ayurvedic care products and a yoga mat are of course also available. TVs were deliberately omitted. SGLs are DBLs for single use.

The hotel is very well maintained. Beautiful grounds and paradisiacal garden. Plenty of shady spots. Very good that there is a nice pool in the garden, as you can't swim well in the sea because of the current. Sustainability and no waste are very important. The cuisine is authentic, individual, fresh, varied and tasty. Therapy and therapists professionally trained and very friendly. Doctors very attentive. All hotel staff friendly and hard-working. We had 3 perfect Wochen☀️
