'Amara' translates to 'eternal', highlighting a focus on sustainability and responsible resource management. Experience soothing Ayurvedic therapies in this gently spiritual retreat nestled between mountains and the beach.
The expansive green grounds of the Amara Ayurveda Retreat are nestled in the pristine hills of Kovalam, offering a spectacular view of the evergreen Western Ghats and are just 10 minutes away from the nearest sandy beach, such as the crescent-shaped Kovalam Beach. The location of the resort has been carefully chosen, surrounded by herbal splendour and tranquil landscapes, enhancing the effects of Ayurvedic therapy. As the name suggests (Amara = 'eternal'), the concept of Amara is in harmony with nature. The owners aim for sustainable, responsible Ayurveda tourism: hot water through solar energy, rainwater tank, avoidance of plastic bottles, and a bio-gas plant for food waste. The atmosphere is calm and homely - an ideal place to ground oneself and recharge. Immersing in the nearby culture, visitors gain a deeper understanding of the philosophy, values, and function of Ayurveda. Thanks to the proximity to the airport and thus short transfer times, the maximum treatment time of the therapy can be fully utilised.

Our expectations were exceeded in every respect. The hotel has wonderfully well-kept and idyllic grounds. The fantastic pool was a highlight for us. We were able to relax and unwind completely. The food was very good and special requests were always catered for. The really great staff deserve special mention. From the management at reception to the waiters, the medical staff and the cleaning staff and cab drivers, everyone was extremely service-oriented and friendly without being intrusive. Early arrival/late departure was not a problem and was handled very accommodatingly. Overall a great recommendation. We would come back at any time.
