The family behind Tamara comes from a line of doctors who have been practicing Ayurveda since the early 1900s. The warm and thoughtful accommodation offers privacy and comfort, with three room categories to choose from: Astha, Ekta, and Idha rooms.

Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey, is a coastal town in the state of Kerala in southwest India. The town is famous for its picturesque backwaters, consisting of a network of rivers, canals, and lagoons. From the backwaters, one has a fantastic view of the breathtaking landscape with villages, rice fields, and coconut plantations. Alappuzha is a beautiful destination that delights its visitors with its natural beauty, culture, and tradition, offering one of the best ways to discover life in Kerala. The nearest beach, Marari Beach, is about a 20-minute drive (10 km) away.

Breakfast, lunch, evening snack, and dinner are individually compiled according to Ayurvedic principles, based on the recommendations of your Ayurveda doctor, your treatment plan, and your health condition. All dishes are free from sea salt, refined sugar, flour, and preservatives. The chefs place special emphasis on freshness, using herbs from the hotel's own garden. The dishes are easily digestible and aimed at boosting the body's natural defences.

The NABH certification granted by the Quality Council of India and the National Accreditation Board ensures guests from around the world the highest standards and practices in healthcare at Amal Tamara. A team comprising three Ayurvedic doctors, a naturopathy expert, and 15 therapists awaits you. The Ayurveda Center features 6 treatment rooms designed in the traditional Kerala style. Traditional Ayurveda is practiced here, where the guest, Ayurvedic doctor, therapist, and medicine work together to achieve your goals. Your treatment plan is individually tailored by the Ayurvedic doctor to your needs, and your therapy is complemented by yoga and meditation sessions. A comprehensive examination and consultation before your arrival enable the expert team to understand your needs, health issues, wellness goals, and specific requirements before coming to Amal. One of the goals of your Ayurveda therapy is to sustainably change your lifestyle beyond your stay. Ayurveda heals your ailments from the inside out by balancing all doshas. However, this is only possible if you continue on the path of Ayurveda after your program at Amal Tamara. To support you on your Ayurvedic journey, the doctors are also available for five additional consultations (virtually) after your stay.

3 times weekly diverse cultural programs, as well as daily Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation workshops. For example, learn how to prepare local dishes at home in a cooking class and create herbal medicine and herbal blends in the Kashayapura workshop. Optional backwater cruise, village tour, and temple visit can be booked on-site for a fee.
